Join us downstairs in the Wine Shop for a Spring Tasting and try what we think are some of the best new wines for Spring & Summer. We’ve brought in a selection to tempt your palate and our team will be there to chat about the stories behind them.

A selection of wines from around the world for £15 per person. Come in any time from 11am to 3pm.

Wine tasting dinner with Felton Road, New Zealand

Join Nigel Greening, owner of Felton Road (Central Otago, New Zealand), when he hosts a special, four-course wine-tasting dinner with matching wines from his cellar at Blandford Comptoir on Wednesday 25th April, 8pm.

This will be a unique evening where Nigel will help you discover the biodynamic Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Rieslings he has been producing for decades, matched to a menu by our executive head chef Ben Mellor.

Xavier Rousset is a name to be conjured with in vinous circles. In 2002, while working for Hotel du Vin, he won Ruinart UK Sommelier of the Year and became the youngest Master Sommelier in the World. Perhaps now some cheeky whippersnapper has wrested that title away but Rousset — having reigned as head sommelier at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons and later opened the restaurant Texture and the small group called 28-50…

Your restaurant opens on June 1. Are you nervous?

Obviously yes, a bit, as I should be. It is always a rush at the last minute and stressful to make sure we deliver to the level we should.

What’s your favourite dish on the menu?

Carpaccio of Fassone beef fillet with 36-month-old Parmigiano Reggiano.

Blandford Comptoir: All the Wine

When you’re awarded the Ruinart UK Sommelier of the Year award and become the youngest Master Sommelier in the world then it’s safe to say that you know a thing or two about wine. Well that happened to Xavier Rousset, you might recognise his name as he set up wine bar 28-50 and now he is opening Blandford Comptoir on Blandford Street.
